Lofrans Royal Windlass Running in Advisory
Lofrans advise that the manual Royal windlass needs a good deal of running in to get it fully up to speed without any unnatural resistance.
The gears and cogs need a period of settling in against each other to achieve their ultimate smooth-running operation.
N.B. The running in is best undertaken under load i.e. retrieving a chain and anchor rather than on a bench.
This particular windlass was brought back because it was initially running a bit 'rough' but was running smoothly after a good manual workout, and returned to the customer
