Marine Safety Equipment

Marine Safety Equipment

Marine Safety Equipment onboard a yacht is like an insurance policy - you hope you won't ever need it but it could potentially be lifesaving protection in the event of a mishap at sea.

Pleasure craft under the length of 13.7 metres are not subject to any statutory safety requirements as regards fire fighting or lifesaving apparatus.
However, pleasure craft over 13.7 metres length overall are obliged to adhere to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) regulations.
Pleasure is defined by the MCA as recreational or sport and not for any commercial gain.
Any craft that carries 12 or more passengers is deemed commercial and subject to the Merchant Shipping Regulations.

Marine safety equipment encompasses a broad spectrum of products that include personal protective equipment (PPE) e.g lifejackets and safety tethers and also yacht lifesaving apparatus e.g. liferafts, man overboard prevention and recovery systems, fire fighting kit, distress signals and location devices.

Jimmy Green Marine offer a wide range of safety equipment from world renowned brands, Seago, Crewsaver, Seago, Pains Wessex and McMurdo.

Jimmy Green Marine also manufacture a range of Man Overboard Prevention and Recovery Equipment in house on our premises in Beer, East Devon e.g. Webbing Jackstays, Danbuoys and the Oscar Man Overboard Recovery Sling.
