Spliced Mooring Strops into either end of a Chain Centre Section can be a real asset for temporary, overnight or permanent mooring arrangements.

The Jimmy Green Rigging Team are well practised in making up Chain Centre Section Mooring Bridles and can advise you on any aspect of your selection.
Email us a sketch of any complex arrangement you are hoping to replace or upgrade.
Rope/Chain/Rope Bridles are ideal for securing your boat to a fixed pile or mooring buoy through a metal ring.
Set your lengths so that the chain centre section and not the rope comes into contact with the rusty metal.
Webbing can be fitted to the chain to soften the harsh contact of metal on metal.

Rope/Chain/Rope Bridles

LIROS Anchorplait Nylon or 3 Strand Nylon spliced directly - 1 link splice - onto either end of a short length of calibrated anchor chain.

Sizes available = 14mm rope spliced into 8mm chain, 16mm into 10mm chain, 18mm into 10mm chain, 24mm into 12mm chain.

Selection process for determining the size of your Single or Double Point, Rope spliced to Chain spliced to Rope Bridle:

Single Point generally means a Swinging Mooring
Double Point could be e.g. Fore and Aft between piles

  1. Find the column in the table below that best represents your Boat Length Overall.
  2. Compare your displacement with the tonnage listed.
  3. If it is greater than displayed in your column in the table, consider moving across to the next column to increase the diameter.
  4. Take advice on local conditions and check the benchmark size from the table below against other similar sized boats moored in your area.
  5. Have a good look at the mooring configurations on neighbouring yachts with a critical eye and judge whether your set up should be the same.
  6. Consider whether you can make any improvements in terms of mooring convenience and anti chafe measures.

If you are using the bridle to negotiate a rough obstacle around or close to the landside mooring point and with a view to joining the two chain ends to your regular mooring lines, select a suitable mooring warp diameter more in line with your current visiting warp set up:

The Jimmy Green Rigging Team can splice Rope/Chain/Rope bridles together from a choice of:

  1. Galvanised chain from 3 top brands: AQUA4, Lofrans Titan
  2. Stainless steel chain in G3 (or G4 at a reduced rate in 12mm only)
  3. Anchorplait Nylon (1 link splice)
  4. 3 Strand Nylon

Anchorplait White Nylon Article 01058JG is manufactured EXCLUSIVELY by LIROS Ropes with Easy Splice Markers for Jimmy Green Marine.
The 8 strand construction [2 pairs left hand, 2 pairs right hand] gives a balanced performance and no twist under tension.
Anchorplait is the rope that won't cockle. In fact, it flakes like chain.

LIROS 3 Strand Nylon article 00110 - 100% Nylon (Polyamide) manufactured to DIN EN ISO 1140 Standard (previously DIN EN 696, DIN 83330) has the same strength and stretch properties as the 8 strand, Octoplait version, is less expensive than Anchorplait but suffers a little from stiffness once used in water, especially in the bigger sizes.
