Cruising Sheets

Sheets on Cruising Yachts are broadly divided into two categories:

100% Polyester Lines with approximately 4%– 5% stretch

LIROS Matt Plait polyester is a popular line where comfort in the hand is one of the main considerations.

LIROS TopGrip is the new generation replacement for Matt Plait Polyester with specially engineered grip fibres blended into the polyester.

LIROS Braid on Braid EVO is the enhanced, new-generation, lower-stretch, higher-load version of LIROS Braid on Braid, which is by far the most popular rope for all running rigging applications.

LIROS Herkules features extra durability for extended cruising.

Marlowbraid is the Marlow answer to Braid on Braid, but it is not ideal for a sheet or control line application because it tends to flatten around winches.

Marlow Blue Ocean® Doublebraid is a braid on braid construction manufactured from 100% recycled rPET polyester sourced entirely from waste plastic bottles - the sustainable option 

Cruising Dyneema Lines constructed from a Dyneema Core and a Polyester Outer Jacket with approximately 2%-3% stretch

LIROS Dynamic Plus (Cruising Dyneema) is by far the most popular line in this category. It has an SK78 core, extra inner plait construction for maintaining a stable form under load, and a 32-plait close weave abrasion-resistant polyester cover with several colour-coded and full-colour options.

Marlow D2 Club (Cruising Dyneema) Cover: Durable 16plait polyester Core: Reduced content 12 strand Dyneema SK75 (lower specification than SK78) blended with lower grade fibre for shape retention delivers approximately 2.5-3% stretch

100% Polyester Cruising Sheet Options:

LIROS Top Grip Cover 1:1 plaited polyester grip fibre and high-tenacity, spun-dyed polyester ~Core (also known as the inner braid) = high tenacity, maximum tensile strength, plaited polyester

LIROS Matt Plait (Seastar 00162/00172) - Cover: 16plait spun polyester cover ~ Core: 100% low stretch polyester plaited core < 6% Working Load Stretch

LIROS Braid on Braid EVO (Top Cruising 00152/01528) - Cover: 20 plait high tensile low stretch polyester cover ~ Core: 100% high tensile low stretch polyester heat set plaited core < 5% Working Load Stretch

LIROS Herkules (01550/01552) - Cover: close weave, abrasion resistant 1:1 spin dyed polyester ~ Core: High tenacity, firm construction, braided polyester core that reduces flattening < 5% Working Load Stretch

Marlowbraid - Cover: Durable 16plait polyester ~ Core: twisted loose lay 3-strand construction that delivers minimum achievable stretch (approximately 4%) without Dyneema content

Marlow Blue Ocean® Doublebraid - Cover: 24 plait braided high tenacity Blue Ocean® trademarked yarn ~ Core: 16 strand, braided high tenacity Blue Ocean® trademarked yarn

Dyneema Core with Polyester Cover Cruising Sheets Options:

LIROS Dynamic Plus (Cruising Dyneema) Cover: 32plait (8mm 24plait) enhanced twist construction Polyester ~ Core: Plaited Dyneema SK78 with additional inner cover for maximum shape retention < 2% Working Load Stretch

Marlow D2 Club (Cruising Dyneema) Cover: Durable 16plait polyester ~ Core: 12 strand Dyneema SK38 (lower specification than SK78) delivers approximately 2.5-3% stretch
