LIROS Grip Protect Rope Cover, article 04500 is perfect for providing additional abrasion resistance and grip on lines where they pass through clutches and jammers.
The Technora hollowbraid line can be threaded onto a variety of diameter lines and fixed in position to give line diameter increase and additional grip, significantly reducing slippage and tension loss in the line.
Special LIROS design and manufacture from Technora in a 48 plait hollowbraid construction for feeding over an existing line.

Secure one end with a tapered bury and/or neat and extremely tight stitch and whipping - take care to smooth out any slack in the cover and secure in the same way as the first end.

It is a tricky operation to successfully sheath a technora sleeve over any line and especially over the LIROS minimum and maximum recommendations.
Useful tips on Grip Sleeve:
Take particular care not to snag a strand or upset the weave more than necessary.
Open up the diameter of the sleeve and gently push onto the end of the line as far it will go easily.
Then smooth the sleeve forward imitating a 'concertina' or 'caterpillar' movement.
Once the sleeve is in position, use a leather glove to smooth it outward from the middle to compress it over the line as tightly as possible.
Secure each end by separating and tapering the sleeve.
The taper can be inserted into the cover or left external - either way the ends should be covered and secured by a whipping.
Astute positioning of Grip Protect is well worth the effort for offshore and ocean cruising, maximising the holding power and extending the life of any lines that pass through clutches.
