Small Boat Strop
A quick ergonomic attachment to the buoy makes the whole mooring process much easier for Small Boats and RIBS.
Our set length Small Boat Strop has a choice of 14mm or 16mm LIROS Octoplait Nylon produced by the Jimmy Green Rigging Team to this specification:
- Kong Carabiner - AISI 316 marine grade stainless steel - knurled locking screw mechanism for security - manufacturer break load rating 2800kg
- Soft eye splice
- LIROS Octoplait White Nylon - Article 01058 - LIROS MBL: 14mm 4400kg, 16mm 5600kg
- One metre tubular polyester anti-chafe webbing reeved on for added protection against wear and tear
- Long loop splice for cow-hitching to the eye or U-bolt on the bow
Strop Sizing
Single-point mooring strops should be sized according to the permanent mooring guide. Please refer to the section on permanent single-point mooring systems in the guide:

LIROS specify their minimum break loads in Dekanewtons (DaN)
Kg force is a more recognisable illustration of strength, so you can convert the LIROS DaN values as follows:
1 Dekanewton = approximately 1.02 kg force
Therefore, the strength for any given diameter will be higher in kg than in daN, e.g. 11800daN = approximately 12036kg.
