A windlass is not manufactured to take the full weight of a yacht or boat at anchor.

All the windlass parts, e.g. gypsy, cogs, and bearings, are designed for the purpose of lowering and retrieving your anchor and chain.

Load protection is essential when the windlass is not in use, i.e., when the yacht is at anchor or when the anchor is located in the bow roller.

Chain stoppers should be securely through-fastened to the deck on a direct line between the windlass and the bow roller.
