Mooring Lines spliced into either end of a short chain length can be a real asset for temporary, overnight or permanent mooring arrangements where it isn't practicable to make the attachment with a shackle.
The Jimmy Green Team name for this arrangement is a Mooring Strop with Chain Centre Section or a Rope/Chain/Rope Bridle. The concept is ideal for securing your boat to a fixed pile or mooring buoy through a metal ring or a strongpoint which is too big to accommodate a shackle.
The chain section provides long-lasting chafe protection on the mooring ring. Nylon or Polyester provide excellent stretch and shock absorption.
Complete the line with a loop splice option for a quick and easy fixed-length mooring bridle, or select a whipping finish option for an adjustable-length mooring solution. Finally, add anti-chafe measures and mooring compensators, if required.
Ideal for mooring onto a steel ring e.g.
Select a chain and warp combination at least as big as your bower anchor system and possibly bigger than that, depending on the application. We advise you to consult the MOORING WARP SIZE GUIDE, which covers the different applications and explains how to make your final decision.
The Rope / Chain / Rope Bridle Concept in practice:
The Warp component options are Anchorplait Nylon or Octoplait Polyester:
Anchorplait® is a Jimmy Green Marine UK Registered Trademark.
Anchorplait® is manufactured exclusively by LIROS Ropes for Jimmy Green Marine.
Anchorplait® features Easy Splice Markers designed by the Jimmy Green Rigging Team.
The eight-strand construction (two pairs left hand, two pairs right hand) delivers a balanced performance with no twist under tension.
In fact, Anchorplait falls and flakes like a chain.
Anchorplait is the rope that will not cockle - the interlocking opposing pairs resist rotation.
Anchorplait is an excellent choice for a Rope/Chain/Rope Bridle because Anchorplait has superb strength, shock absorbency and handling.

LIROS specify their minimum break loads in Dekanewtons (DaN)
Kg force is a more recognisable illustration of strength, so you can convert the LIROS DaN values as follows:
1 Dekanewton = approximately 1.02 kg force
Therefore, the strength for any given diameter will be higher in kg than in daN, e.g. 11800daN = approximately 12036kg.
Plain white LIROS Octoplait Nylon article 01058 with only LIROS tracer yarns is also available.

In fact, Octoplait falls and flakes like a chain.
Octoplait will not cockle because the interlocking opposing pairs resist rotation.
