Jimmy Green Guardrail Netting is machine-made on a knotted net loom to produce a heat-set, stabilised and proof-loaded nylon netting.
Jimmy Green Guardrail White Nylon Netting is 10.5 meshes deep with a 50mm knot-to-knot mesh size, providing a versatile 60cm to 75cm top wire height. This makes it ideal for preventing loss overboard between your top guard wire, pulpit, or pushpit rail and the toe rail.
Jimmy Green Guardrail Netting is available by the metre. Select your guardrail height, 60cm or 75cm high and the length you need to cover in metres.
Team Jimmy Green will calculate the amount of 'closed' netting to measure from the reel to cover the required length at your selected height, generously.
Guardrail Netting is ideal for helping to keep everything and everyone safely on board.
Guardrail netting can be fitted in sections that are considered high-risk or around the entire deck. N.B. Netting will be unnecessary where there are PVC dodgers already fitted
Meticulous care and use of the appropriate ancillary components are a prerequisite for attaining an aesthetically pleasing finish:
- Use a border cord at the bottom
- Avoid simply reeving the top or bottom line/wire/rail through the selvedge mesh
- Load a netting shuttle (bobbin) with your preferred lacing cord and secure the netting with a couple of half hitches on the angled point of each selvedge mesh
** The netting is made from lines that run horizontally, creating a selvedge, which means that meshes can be trimmed off and the knots unpicked to leave a selvedge
Guard Rail Netting is a 50mm knot-to-knot mesh formed from 210/48 (16z) high-quality twisted nylon twine designed to enhance safety on board by providing a secure barrier along guardrails and lifelines.
Guardrail Netting: Facts, Features and Plus Factors
- Manufactured from 210/48 (16z) twisted white nylon, comprising three strands twisted together to form a durable twine approximately 1.8mm in diameter
- Each twine has a breaking strength of 68kg, tested in accordance with ISO 1805
- The twine is formed into netting with a 50mm mesh size, measuring approximately 10.5 metres deep and a maximum of 1000 meshes long
- Knots are sealed using an acrylic coating and heat-setting process, enhancing durability and longevity
- Nylon can be colourfast dyed for a bespoke finish
- Excellent UV resistance
- High abrasion and impact resistance
- Retains shape, stiffness, and tensile strength at elevated temperatures
- Resistant to oils, petrol, and organic solvents
- Tough and durable in both hot and cold climates
- Softening Point: 235–240°C - Melting Point: 260°C
- Cold Resistance: Maintains flexibility in sub-zero conditions; does not become brittle when frozen.
- Flammability: Burns with difficulty, does not sustain combustion, and is self-extinguishing.
- Easily workable
- Can be fitted 60cm high with the meshes in a horizontal diamond shape (slightly squashed Rhombus) or 75cm high with meshes in a roughly square shape set at a 45 degree angle
- Good creep resistance
Guardrail Netting is ideal for added guardrail security on sailing and motor yachts, preventing crew members, winch handles, and other potential overboard casualties.
