Kong Stainless Steel Swivel Anchor Connector: Facts, Features and Plus Factors:

• Ideal for reducing chain twist when trying to bring an anchor to the surface
• Allows the anchor to swivel independently and the connector to ride smoothly over the bow roller
• Designed to go over bow rollers and pass through hawse pipes without snagging
• Manufactured by Kong from polished 316 marine-grade stainless steel

N.B. It is advisable to fit a suitable bow shackle between the anchor shank and the connector to reduce lateral load risk - this is explained in the diagram below.

Please note that the smaller end of the swivel is designed to connect to your anchor chain.

A Maillon Rapide/ fixed connector could also be used to connect to the anchor.

There is a popular solution for preventing potential lateral load failure by enabling articulation.

Fit an additional three links of anchor chain between the shackle (or other fixed connection) and the swivel connector.

3 links of Anchor Chain or 3 links of S/S Anchor Chain

The three links connect the larger anchor end of the swivel to the shackle on the anchor.
The swivel connector smaller end is connected to the anchor chain.

For KGAC08-S:   6-8mm connector (BRS-77.318.106) - use 3 links of 10mm chain
For KGAC10-S: 8-12mm connector (BRS-77.318.108) - use 3 links of 10mm chain

Jimmy Green Three Links Advisory**

The links for the Kong KGAC10-S, 8-12mm anchor connector must be 10mm ISO4565.

10mm DIN766 has slightly smaller internal dimensions and will not fit on the anchor connector pin.

The Jimmy Green Picking Team will ensure you get the correct 10mm Chain Size.

The picture below shows the correct configuration with one bow shackle and three links of the connecting chain:

If the hole/cutout in the anchor shank has sharp edges and will not accept the crown of the bow shackle in a proper load-bearing manner, it may be pertinent to fit two shackles back to back.
The picture below shows this optional configuration with an extra D shackle:

Compatibility = reasonable compatibility with Grade 40 chain break load

For those with narrow bow roller channels, we have estimated the width required for the swivel to pass through unhindered:

** because of the profile, the clearance required for the swivel to pass through a narrow channel is estimated as greater than the dimension B in the table above.
