Mooring Strops with Chain Centre Section

Mooring Lines spliced into either end of a Chain Centre Section can be a real asset for temporary, overnight or permanent mooring arrangements.

Rope/Chain/Rope Bridles are ideal for securing your boat to a fixed pile or mooring buoy through a metal ring.

Set your lengths so that the chain centre section, not the rope, comes into contact with the rusty metal. Webbing can be fitted to the chain to soften the harsh contact of metal on metal.

Rope/Chain/Rope Bridles

LIROS Anchorplait Nylon or 3 Strand Nylon spliced directly - 1 link splice - onto either end of a short length of calibrated anchor chain.

Sizes available = 14mm rope spliced into 8mm chain, 16mm into 10mm chain, 18mm into 10mm chain, 24mm into 12mm chain.

The selection process for a Rope/Chain/Rope Bridle (overnight visit or extended stay):

1. Find the column in the table below that best represents your Boat Length Overall.
2. Compare your displacement with the tonnage listed.
3. If the displacement is greater than displayed in your column in the table, or the yacht is a multihull, consider moving across to the next column to increase the diameter.
4. Consider the application for your bridle - Will it be used as a single or double mooring point or as an anti-chafe mechanism to protect your regular lines
5. Consider the nature of the application - the chart is conservative and aimed at an overnight visit
6. For a more permanent arrangement or mooring on an exposed mooring, there is a specific chart in the Permanent Mooring Size Guide

If you are using the bridle to negotiate a rough obstacle around or close to the landside mooring point with a view to joining the two chain ends to your regular mooring lines, select a suitable mooring warp diameter more in line with your current visiting warp set up:
